Terry

Terry in the bedsheets cold
splayed and folded like a dish towel
waiting in the wings a coyote
     with clipped yellow eyes
          and spayed
stretched film of crimson cloth
     suspended between his thighs

Terry in mourning wailing
a vinyl scratching
     Billy Sue Mercer's yodeling lips
some primal act
some display dispelling undo
     virtue upon this comely home
dark estuary where field mice play
where rip the talons of an old grey barn owl
     the flesh of frightened things

Terry in splendid caricature
someone waiting
     who cares
someone wanting
     what he can't have
Terry in lipstick drying out
 in withdrawal.
